The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to implement a drug-free workplace policy to uphold the safety and productivity of its officials and employees.

Setting an example, DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo heeded the call to keep the DSWD workforce from the harms and risks of substance use by actively participating in the conduct of mandatory drug testing for DSWD officials and random drug testing for employees in the DSWD Central Office on December 12 and 13.

The Department emphasized that the regular drug testing program aims to safeguard DSWD employees from the ill effects of drug abuse, hence, promoting a productive workplace and yielding better outputs.

In compliance with Civil Service Memorandum Circular No. 13, s. 2017 or the “Guidelines in the Mandatory Random Drug Test for Public Officials and Employees and for Other Purposes” and DSWD Administrative Order No. 14, series of 2017 or the Enhanced Guidelines in the Implementation of a Drug-free Workplace Program, the Secretary submitted his urine samples for the drug test which was administered by the East Avenue Medical Center National Reference Laboratory.

The Secretary, along with the whole DSWD, seeks to ensure that officials and employees of the Department are free from any adverse impacts of substance use on their job performance by establishing a drug-free working environment. ###
