CEBU CITY – Various organizations and individuals heeded the call of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for volunteers to help repack relief goods at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), Petrone, and Sacred Heart.

At the same time business groups have given their support to the disaster relief operations of the Department by providing food for the volunteers.   These are Jollibee Group Foundation, SM Foundation, BPI Globe BanKO, and 7-Eleven.

The provincial government of Cebu also continues to give food for the volunteers.

“We thank the different business establishments for giving food to our volunteers who have been tirelessly  repacking goods for typhoon survivors,” DSWD-Field Office VII Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat said.

Zidi Mohamad, Social Worker from Denmark who volunteered at CICC  said, “I am helping here with my friend. I’m from Denmark. I’m helping out the way I can.”

DSWD-Field Office VII reiterates its call for interested groups and individuals to share their time at the repacking centers. They may first coordinate with Jo Belontindos at 09391748342.

Since December 6, a total of 1,752 volunteers have trooped to the three repacking hubs.

The three hubs are the pick-up and delivery points for relief supplies for ‘Ruby’ survivors in Eastern Visayas. ###
