Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office-5 (Bicol Region) distribute on Wednesday (January 24) family food packs worth over Php400,000 to some 609 fisherfolk from Sipocot, Camarines Sur who were affected by the effects of a shear line in the province.

The fisherfolk from Barangays Anib, Salvacion, and San Vicente were unable to venture into the sea to fish for a couple of weeks due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the province.

The DSWD Bicol Field Office, through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), is completing the delivery of relief assistance as resource augmentation to other affected LGUs due to the shear line and other weather disturbances.

Volunteers and Field Office-5 personnel repacked FFPs at the DSWD regional warehouse in Pawa, Legazpi City, Albay to ensure sufficient stockpile for the timely provision of support to the local government units (LGUs) affected by the shear line, weather disturbances, and other disaster incidents throughout the region.

Some 21 volunteers from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 (RMFB 5), and the Philippine Air Force – Tactical Operations Group 5 (TOG 5) assisted in the repacking of goods.#
