The massive destruction brought by Typhoon Yolanda to the Visayas has prompted the international community to generously donate financial and in-kind assistance for the victims.

As of November 25, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has received a total of P44,362,440.84 and US$1,005,515.98 cash donations.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman thanked all the donors saying, “Your generosity will help ease the misery and hopelessness of the  ‘Yolanda’ victims.”

Aside from the cash donations, the different donor countries and international organizations also gave high energy biscuits, food, telecommunication equipment, tents, blankets, tarpaulins, clothes, hygiene kits, medicines and medical equipment, water containers/tanks, jerry cans, mobile storage unit, emergency vehicle and other relief items.

Just recently, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) donated two checks amounting to P1 million and P157,800.

Aside from the check donations, PMPC also gave 14 cases of portable LED light, 120 cases size AA alkaline batteries, 150 cases of 9V size alkaline batteries, and R6 heavy duty 4S  amounting to P2,005,538.

The Korean government likewise turned over  $130,000 or P5.59 million worth of donations consisting of 9,093 chicken fried rice, 3,860 chicken fried rice with auto warming system, 120 family tents and 160 blankets for victims in Iloilo Province.
