The Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Galing Pook Foundation (GPF) hold on Tuesday (June 25) the final anti-hunger project presentation of the 17 local government units (LGUs) that qualified as finalists for the Walang Gutom Awards 2024.

 

The LGU-finalists are Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City; Barangay Naggasican, Santiago City; Tipo-Tipo, Basilan; local government unit of Irosin; Bacnotan, La Union; Magallanes, Cavite; Palompon, Leyte; Asuncion, Davao Del Norte; Iloilo City; Mati City, Davao Oriental; Angeles City, Pampanga; Cadiz City; Kidapawan City, Cotabato; City Government of Bago; Provincial Government of Isabela; Provincial Government of Biliran; and Quirino
Province, Cagayan.

DSWD Undersecretary for Innovations Edu Punay, Asst. Secretary Baldr Bringas and GPF Executive Director Georgina Ann Hernandez -Yang attended the final presentation that was held at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.

Of the 17 finalists, 10 LGUs will be chosen as recipients of the Walang Gutom Awards 2024. The winners will be awarded on Wednesday  (June 26) in Malacanang with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian leading the awarding rites.

The Walang Gutom Awards is a collaboration of the DSWD and GPF that  aims to honor and replicate the best practices of LGUs in addressing food security and nutrition challenges, ultimately contributing to the nation’s goal of eradicating involuntary hunger by 2027.#
