The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Office (FO) MIMAROPA, provided assistance to families affected by an armed conflict in Sitio Tiyabong, Brgy. Ligaya, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.

According to the report of the Disaster Response Management Division of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Sablayan, about 284 families or 1,366 individuals evacuated because of an encounter between the Philippine Army and the New People’s Army on July 15, 2022. Regrettably, one individual died from the incident.

The DSWD FO MIMAROPA already sent 250 Family Food Packs and 81 hygiene kits amounting to P312,525.85 as augmentation assistance to the DSWD Social Welfare and Development Team (SWADT) of Occidental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, the Department is set to provide P10,000 burial assistance, under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program, to the family who lost their loved one due to the unfortunate incident.

The Department will continue to monitor the situation of the affected families to ensure that their needs are sufficiently met. ###
