Some 500  boxes of family food packs (FFPs) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have already been airlifted by the Philippine Army’s 80th Infantry Batallion (IB) to Barangay Santa Inez in Tanay, Rizal province on Friday (July 26).
This, after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr instructed members of the Cabinet to find a way to bring relief supplies to the area especially that the residents have not eaten for three days.
“Yong kaisa-isang barangay na nasa taas. We have to do something about this. We have to get the supplies to them. They have not eaten for three days. Let us find a way to help them. Sana ngayong araw. Basta’t hanap tayo ng paraan para maiparating ang pagkain at ibang mga pangangailangan nila,” the President said upon learning of the situation of the villagers at the situation briefing he presided at the San Mateo Municipal Hall.
Residents of Santa Inez ran out of food for three days after they were isolated when the roads became impassable at the height of Typhoon Carina and the Habagat.
During the situation briefing, the Cabinet secretaries recommended ways to bring relief aid to the area such as using choppers.
The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) were able to arrange a chopper to deliver the goods from the DSWD.
According to DSWD Field Office-4A (CALABARZON) Regional Director Barry Chua,  the 80th
IB will try to finish the delivery of some 3,000 FFPs on Saturday (July 27). #
