Following her visit to Nueva Ecija yesterday where she monitored the condition of the families affected by TS “Santi,” Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman said that the DSWD is set to release P10 million as additional standby funds to purchase relief supplies and other resources needed by the victims.

To date, total assistance to Central Luzon, the area hardest hit by TS ‘Santi,’ is P12.16 million from the combined resources of the DSWD, concerned local government units, and other groups.

As of 6 am, today, October 15, 21 evacuation centers in Central Luzon are still providing temporary shelter to 1,159 families or 5, 133 persons. On the other hand, families outside evacuation centers who opted to stay in their friends’ or relatives houses are also provided with relief packs.

The DSWD in region III is continuously coordinating with all LGUs for possible unreported affected families and areas specifically in Bataan, Zambales, and Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, in Cagayan Valley, all evacuation centers were closed but 75 families or 300 individuals who are staying in their friends and relatives houses continue to receive relief packs from the DSWD and local government units.

In CALABARZON, eighteen evacuation centers are still existing sheltering 116 families and 571 persons while 693 family-victims with
3,465 persons opted to stay with their friends and relatives’ in safe areas.

DSWD social workers in TS ‘Santi’ affected areas continue to coordinate with concerned local government units for other interventions that affected families may need. ###
