The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepositioned relief goods in areas along the typhoon path of ‘Vinta’ in Northern Luzon.

Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said today that DSWD is constantly coordinating with local government units (LGUs) to ensure that relief goods are ready and can easily be dispatched to affected areas.

“We already prepositioned 6,680 family food packs worth P1.67 million to the provinces of Abra (850 food packs), Mt. Province (950), Kalinga (1,030), Ifugao (400), Apayao (1,450) and DSWD Field Office in Baguio City (2,000) for augmentation to areas that may be affected by the typhoon,” Secretary Soliman said.

Moreover, the DSWD has prepositioned 3,195 family food packs worth P798,750 for the provinces of Pangasinan (1,000), Ilocos Norte (195),  and La Union (2,000) in  Region I.

The Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Teams of Region I are also activated to prepare for relief augmentation and management of evacuation center.

On the other hand, the SWAD Teams of Cagayan provinces and the Disaster Monitoring Regional Teams of  DSWD-CAR Field Office are on 24-hour duty to monitor any eventualities.

Residents along the typhoon path were advised against possible flashfloods, landslides, and storm surges along the coastal areas. ###
