The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has lined-up various activities to celebrate Valentine’s Day this Friday (February 14) at its Central Office in Quezon City.

In a memorandum sent to all officials and employees on February 12, Undersecretary Edward Justine Orden of the General Administration and Support Services Group (GASSG) invited everyone to take part in the one-day celebration which carries the theme“Pusong Nagkakaisa sa DSWD na Bawat Buhay ay Mahalaga.”

“The Valentine’s Day activity is set to encourage DSWD personnel to advocate and recognize the importance of love, kindness, and gratitude towards one another,” Usec Orden said in his memorandum.

The GASSG undersecretary said this activity also envisages supporting DSWD personnel with creative talents, providing opportunities for socialization and interaction, and continuously promoting wellness.

As a treat for its employees, Valentine’s Day-related goods and services will be offered at the Central Office’s New Lobby.

Upon request of the sender, the Valentine’s Day goods may be delivered to intended recipients by personnel from the Human Resource Management and Development Service (HRMDS) who will serve as “cupid crew”.

Members of the DSWD Chorale will also provide a serenade service for a low price to employees who want to dedicate songs to other DSWD personnel.

Aside from face-to-face serenades, employees may also request songs via Google form to the HRMDS for songs that will be aired over Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone lines of the Central Office.

Employees may also join the “If a Picture Paints a Thousand Words…” online contest which will feature thematic photos.

Every hour, a theme will be blasted through the activity’s email thread where employees can submit photo entries based on the assigned theme. The winners will receive exciting prizes from the HRMDS.

“We hope that the activities lined up for Valentine’s Day will significantly uplift the spirits of all personnel and contribute to a positive work atmosphere in the DSWD Central Office,” Undersecretary Orden said. (AKDL)
