As Typhoon Ineng continues to weaken and moves out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Field Offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Regions I, II, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) continue to assist local government units (LGUs) in relief distribution to affected families.

As of  4 am today,  August 24, assistance worth ₱3.1 million has been provided  to affected families from the combined resources of the DSWD which extended ₱2.8 million and LGUs with ₱307,809.20.

DSWD is now preparing for the delivery of 50,000 food packs to Region I. Last night,  the first batch of 10,720 packs were transported to Region I with the assistance of the Philippine Navy.

Today,  a convoy of 19 trucks will deliver 6,840 packs more to the region while the remaining 32, 440 will follow in the succeeding days.

As of presstime, a total of  24,058 families or 106,984 persons from 329 barangays of  68 cities and municipalities have been affected by ‘Ineng’. Of this number, 703 families or 2,644 persons are still in 30 evacuation centers.

DSWD disaster teams continue to be on alert to provide resource augmentation to the affected LGUs. ###
