The Department of Social Welfare and Development IX (DSWD) conducted a Mindanao Civil Society Organizations (CSO) meeting which started last
Wednesday at a local hotel, this city.

More than 100 CSO participants coming from Regions 9, 12 and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao attended the meeting.

The topics discussed during the meeting were updates on Public and Private Partnership, DSWD, CSO partnership, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and others.

DSWD National Office Executive Assistant and CSO Focal Person, Roy Calfoforo, who was the guest speaker for the program said in an interview, “We are talking about public – private partnership. Paano sila makakatulong sa mga core programs ng DSWD  like KALAHI-CIDSS, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, and livelihood program. Sila yung ating bantay, gabay, tulay, at kaagapay sa ground. They help in the monitoring of the pantawid pamilya, they help in the facilitation of
family development session and implementation of modified CCT for the disadvantaged and vulnerable sector dito sa region na ito.”

According to Calfoforo, this is important so these CSO’s can help on the ground to implement DSWD programs especially in terms of transparency and accountability. “Para effectively maimplement natin ng maayos at maganda at makinabang ang tunay na mahihirap sa ating mga programa dito sa DSWD. Paano magtutulungan ang CSO, private sectors, LGU at DSWD down to municipal level na maimplement ng maayos itong programa ng gobyerno natin.”

This meeting is also line with the instruction of Secretary Dinky Soliman that the office should really communicate, coordinate and   collaborate with their partners.

The activity will also strengthen the partnership between the DSWD and the CSO in Zamboanga Peninsula.

A workshop was also given to the participants where the participants went on a planning session.

The KALAHI-CIDSS, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, and the SEA-K,  are just some of the flagship programs of the department for poverty
alleviation. ###
