The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) hailed weightlifter Vanessa Sarno for the tough fight she showed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In a Facebook post on Saturday (August 10), the DSWD, through its Pantawid Pamilyang PIipino Program (4Ps), thanked the lady weightlifter who comes from a 4Ps household in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, for participating in the Olympic’s women’s 71kg division weightlifting .
“Maraming salamat sa laban, Vanessa Sarno!  Ang iyong pagsabak sa women’s 71kg division weightlifting sa Paris 2024 Olympic Games ay isang inspirasyon para sa bawat Pilipino, higit lalo sa mga 4Ps households,” the Facebook post read.
According to the DSWD post, Vanessa’s two younger siblings are 4Ps monitored children while her mother, a solo parent, is the household head.
The DSWD cheered on Vanessa’s Olympics journey and expressed pride of her being part of the Philippine Olympic Team.
“Mabuhay ka, Vanessa!  Kasama mo ang buong 4Ps family sa iyong naging laban para sa Pilipinas!” the DSWD-4Ps said in its post.
Vanessa is a two-time South East Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist.
The DSWD’s 4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfer to poor households for a maximum period of seven years, to improve health, nutrition
and education.
As of May 31, there are 4.3 million household-beneficiaries nationwide that are receiving conditional cash grants under the anti-poverty program.#
