In its continuing disaster response operations in Davao Region, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office-12 (SOCCSKSARGEN Region) augmented relief supplies for distribution to families affected by the effects of a shear line and trough of a low pressure area on Monday (February 5).

DSWD SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. said his field office was able to deliver more than 15,000 family food packs (FFPs) and 1,000 modular tents to displaced families as part of their inter-regional coordination with the DSWD Field Office-11 (Davao Region).

“In times of extensive damages to human lives, nearby regions can augment per request or per directives from top management,” Regional Director Cabaya said.

A total of 2,000 family food packs are also set to be delivered to Davao Region for additional relief augmentation, according to Director Cabaya.

DSWD Asst. Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez assured the public that the agency is consistently coordinating with local government units (LGUs) in the affected regions in Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to ensure they will have enough resources for their affected constituents.

“We assure our kababayans affected in Mindanao that the DSWD still has enough stockpile and standby funds available for distribution. The resources of our nearby field offices can be tapped for immediate delivery if needed,” said Asst. Sec. Lopez, who is also the DSWD spokesperson.

Currently, the DSWD is monitoring the condition of 13,282 families or 49,307 persons staying in 200 evacuation centers in Davao Region and Caraga Region because of the inclement weather.

The Department also provided a total of Php97,050,299 worth of humanitarian assistance to Region 11. #
