The outgoing chairperson of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Management Committee (MANCOM) Director Justin Caesar Anthony Batocabe of the Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIDB) turns over the leadership of the committee to Assistant Secretary Baldr Bringas of the Innovations Group in a simple ceremony held at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City on Tuesday (February 11).

Asst. Secretary Bringas is also the officer-in-charge of the national program manager of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) and the Walang Gutom National Program Management Office (NPMO).

In his acceptance message, Asst. Secretary Bringas expressed his gratitude for the trust and confidence of the MANCOM members as he assured them that he will “continue to work even harder not just to fulfil the role of the MANCOM chair but to keep the MANCOM united and focused on what truly matters.”

The MANCOM of the DSWD is a consultative mechanism to institute closely coordinated work among bureaus and service units. It functions as a collegial body that provides complete staff work for the agency’s executive committee (EXECOM) and the DSWD Secretary toward instituting systematic and effective provision of support services for the key mandate on policy making and operations of the Department.

The committee also undertakes a complete review and integration of input for proposed guidelines, position papers, policies, issuances, and other policy instruments.

The MANCOM acts as an independent body representing middle management of the DSWD.

Undersecretary Edu Punay of the Innovations Group, representing Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and the members of the DSWD MANCOM were present during the turnover ceremony. (YADP)
