The Department of Social Welfare and Development team led by Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman finished the distribution of 1,400 food packs and 300 bottled water to families affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Maribojoc, Bohol yesterday.

The DSWD will also distribute some 1,850 food packs and 5,000 bottled water to affected families in Loon, Bohol tomorrow morning. Loon is the largest municipality in Bohol that was severely hit by the quake.

“We are transporting relief goods through a motorized banca due to impassable roads,” Secretary Soliman stated.

The people thanked Secretary Soliman and the DSWD team saying “Kayo ang unang nagresponde at nagbigay ng tulong sa amin, maraming salamat! (You are the first to respond and provide help to us).

Secretary Soliman assured the affected families that addressing their food needs is a priority concern of the government. ###
