The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that all Quick Response  Team (QRT) in the Field Offices along the path of Tropical Storm Glenda have been activated and continue to be on alert status to monitor the extent of the disaster and to assist local government units (LGUs) in responding to the needs of the affected families.

With ‘Glenda’ intensifying in strength, DSWD, as of 5 pm, has prepositioned a total of 35,918 family food packs, 45,473 assorted food items, and 105,601 assorted non-food items ready for distribution to LGUs.

In Bicol Region where Signal Number 2 has been hoisted over five areas, a total of 2,000 family food packs and P2.5 million-worth of rice has been prepositioned for Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, and Masbate.

In Northern Luzon,  34 disaster operation volunteers under the Bayanihang Bayan Program and 50 skilled volunteers from from the military and the academe are ready for duty. A total of 339 evacuation centers are also identified around the region.

In Cagayan Valley, a surge team with 12 members knowledgeable in disaster management and psycho-social processing was created and ready for deployment. DSWD has identified 65 evacuation centers.

In Central Luzon, 8,242 family food packs and 2,800 sleeping kits were prepositioned to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) offices in Aurora, Bulacan, Olongapo, Tarlac, and Zambales.###
