Personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office-5 (Bicol Region), in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Pasacao in Camarines Sur, hand out hot and packed meals to 97 stranded passengers at the Pasacao Port on Monday (July 22) amid the cancellation of sea travel due to rough seas brought about by Typhoon Carina-enhanced ‘Habagat’.

As Habagat and Typhoon Carina continue to affect the Bicol Region, the DSWD Field Office-5 remains on alert status to extend assistance to affected families and individuals.

In preparation for resource augmentation, the FO-5 has prepositioned a total of 182,249 family food packs (FFPs) and 335,733 non-food relief items at the different LGUs and DSWD warehouses across the Bicol Region ready to be dispatched to disaster-hit areas.#
