The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sent various relief supplies to augment resources of TS ‘Santi’ affected local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon, the hardest hit region by the recent typhoon.

Some 8,000 family food packs  worth P2.04 million were transported by three trucks of the World Food Programme from the DSWD-National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City to DSWD-Field Office III to be distributed to affected areas in the region.

In Tarlac City,  the DSWD sent 2,000 family food packs worth P512,800 and 20,000 pieces of bottled water amounting to P147,928.  Likewise, the Department released 1,000 family packs  worth P250,000 to the municipality of San Miguel in Bulacan.

To date, total amount of assistance to Central Luzon (Region III)  is P1,451,488.86.

As of 6 am today,   59,124 families with 271,091 persons  coming from the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Bulacan have been affected by TS ‘Santi.’ Of this number,  2,255 families or 10,018  persons are in evacuation centers.

The DSWD Field Office III also reported that 22, 334 houses were damaged in Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, the Social Welfare and Development Teams in other regions continue to coordinate with concerned LGUs to assess the needs of affected families and for subsequent provision of appropriate services. ###
