As another devastating disaster struck the country, international and local donors once again responded by generously donating much needed items for the victims of typhoon ‘Pablo’ in Davao region.

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman is pleased with the initiatives and efforts of the different organizations to help the victims of typhoon ‘Pablo.’

Dole Korea and Itochu Corporation Japan in partnership with Stanfilco-Dole (a division of Dole Philippines, Inc.) and Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI) a non-government organization accredited by the DSWD donated P3.2 million worth of relief goods for distribution to typhoon victims in Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte.

The relief goods consist of 555 boxes (11,100 cups) of instant noodles, 1,000 cases of canned sweet corn, 336 cases of canned meat, 15,554 cases of advocado dip and 4,664 boxes of mineral water.  The goods are intended for 3,600 families in Compostela and Maragusan in Compostela Valley; and Asuncion in Davao del Norte.

To deliver these goods to affected areas, the DSWD in partnership with Kasilak Foundation and Dole-Stanfilco held a ‘Caravan of Hope’ on December 20 to Compostela, New Bataan, Compostela Valley. For Asuncion, Davao del Norte and Maragusan, Compostela Valley, the ‘Caravan of Hope’ will be held on December 27 and 28, respectively.  Along with the caravan, medical missions will also be conducted where the medical needs of typhoon victims will be addressed.

Other donors include the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) which donated P1 million, and Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines, Inc. which extended P1M worth of assorted batteries and P213,000.00 check. ###
