Tacloban City, Leyte – Twenty ten-wheeler trucks recently arrived at the   relief hub here to support the disaster relief operations of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for Typhoon Yolanda victims in Eastern Visayas.

The trucks were provided by the United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

These will be loaded  with relief goods, both food and non-food items, for distribution to various typhoon-affected localities.

“Mobility is one of the problems affecting the relief operation here in Eastern Visayas.  The ten-wheeler trucks provided by the UN-WFP and the LTFRB will be a great help to our operations especially in ensuring timely delivery of relief goods to the affected localities,”  DSWD Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera, who is currently overseeing the relief operations, said.

As of today, DSWD is on its 8th cycle of relief distribution in the region. ###
