Officials and representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Cebu City government, Cebu Normal University (CNU), and Schools Division Office signify their support for the implementation of the DSWD’s Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program in the city by signing the Pledge of Commitment Book on Friday (March 8) during the ceremonial kick-off activity for the tutoring program at the Cebu City Hall.

Among the signatories of the Pledge of Commitment were DSWD Undersecretary for Innovations Edu Punay,  Social Technology Bureau Asst. Director Helen Suzara, DSWD Central Visayas Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero,  Asst. Regional Director for Administration (ARDA) Tonyson Luther S. Lee, Asst. Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Juanito Cantero, and Social Technology Unit Head Ligaya G. Dael.

Government officials who vowed their support for the program include Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama;  Taraka, Lanao del Sur Mayor Amenodin Sumagayan; CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso Sr.; CNU-College of Teacher Education Dean Dr. Venus Cortez; Cebu City Commission for the Welfare and Protection of Children Executive Director Helen Francisco; Cebu City Chief-of-Staff Atty. Kimberly  Marie F. Esmena; and Cebu City Women and Family Affairs Commission Executive Director Regina Lingaolingao.

Also signing the Pledge of Commitment Book were Department of Education (DepEd)-Cebu City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Nimfa Bongo and DepEd Region-7 Chief Education Supervisor of Education Support Service Division Tomas Pastor.

Cebu City Councilors Francis Esparis, Jocelyn Pesquera, Pastor Alcober, Jr., Edgardo Labella II, Mary Ann Delos Santos, Nestor Archival, Joel Garganera, Jose Lorenzo Abellanosa, Atty. Rey Gealon, and Donaldo Hontiveros also signed the Pledge of Commitment.#
