Broken down, P477,600,000 was released for 15,920 families with totally damaged houses in Roxas City; P173,610,000 for  5,637 families with totally damaged houses and 450 families with partially damaged houses in Panay; and P43,570,000 for 4,457 families with partially damaged houses in Pontevedra.

The checks were turned over to the municipal treasurers with Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo, and towns’ respective municipal and city social welfare and development officers witnessing the turnover.

The LGUs will be releasing the aid to the families.

The ESA is being released by the agency as part of the rehabilitation efforts to help ‘Yolanda’ survivors rebuild their homes.

The amount of P30,000 is intended for those with totally damaged houses while P10,000 will be released for those with partially damaged houses.

Permanent houses

DSWD has also turned over some P7 million to Pilar town, also in Capiz, for the construction of permanent housing units for 100 family-survivors of ‘Yolanda’ through the Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP).

CSAP is a rehabilitation program which aims to provide structurally strong shelter units that can withstand 180-220 kph wind velocity to families whose houses were totally destroyed by natural and man-made calamities

The DSWD provides funds for implementation of the project with a counterpart from the local government unit. ###
