Typhoon Luis already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) yesterday morning but left 39,453 families or 186,536 persons affected in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Southern Tagalog, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and National Capital Region (NCR).

According to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman, DSWD has provided 630 family food packs worth P741,785 to Benguet and Mountain Province in CAR, and in Marikina City in NCR.

She also said that the agency has standby funds of P36.87 million and prepositioned 141,910 family food packs for augmentation to affected local governments units (LGUs) when needed.

Likewise, some 928,765 assorted food items worth P24.35 million and non-food items worth P26.21 million are also available.

In Ilocos Region, as of 4 am today, 12 evacuation centers are still open in La Union and Pangasinan providing temporary shelter to 126 families or 436 individuals.  Fifteen houses were reported damaged in the region.

In Cagayan Valley, evacuation centers were already closed as of reporting time. There were 166 houses totally damaged and 518 houses partially destroyed in the area.

In Central Luzon, the province of Bataan continues to experience heavy rainfall this morning. Thirty-seven evacuation centers are still open serving 2,057 families or 11,056 individuals.

In CAR, 55 families or 174 individuals continue to stay in four evacuation centers.

DSWD-Field Offices in affected regions continue to deploy members of their Quick Response Teams to monitor and assess the extent of the typhoon. ###
