Recognizing the impact of the different programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in their respective areas, Local Chief Executives of Ipil and Tungawan in Zamboanga Sibugay and Dolores, Bohol expressed their continued support to the agency.

Citing the impact of DSWD projects in his town, Tungawan Mayor Randy Climaco shared, “I observed that  DSWD programs really have an impact on improving the quality of lives of the beneficiaries. DSWD knows what project to implement in certain areas which directly responds to the people’s needs, be it infrastructure or livelihood project.”

For her part, DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman considers the support of local chief executives vital to the success of program implementation.

“We need the support of local government units to achieve our goals. This is why we are strengthening our communication, collaboration and coordination with them,” Sec. Soliman said.

Ipil Mayor Eldwin Alibutdan said that he supports DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program by providing five staff complement to implement the program.

“I understand the pressure of the work, especially that the staff have to conduct Family Development Sessions (FDS) and trainings on livelihood. By augmenting the manpower, they will do their work efficiently,” Mayor Alibutdan said.

Dolores Mayor Emiliana Carillo commended DSWD for being ready not only in times of disaster but throughout the year.

“I find DSWD programs as effective tools in improving the lives of the poor, protecting the rights of children, and providing assistance to senior citizens,” Mayor Carillo expressed. ###
