In its effort to provide immediate assistance to the victims of Typhoon “Santi,”  Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman said that the DSWD has made available sufficient manpower and food packs to augment resources  of affected local government units (LGUs).

As of 5 pm today, number of affected families  in Region III is 8,154 composed of 32,697 persons  from the  79 barangays in Aurora, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.  Twenty-four evacuation centers remain open to provide temporary shelter to 1,263 families or 5,112 persons. The DSWD has provided an initial assistance of P424,946.00.

In Sual, Pangasinan, 11 families with 57 persons from Sitio Look, Barangay Poblacion evacuated in the municipal building. To date, the families have gone back to their places of origin.

In Isabela Province, 184 families composed of 666 persons were affected in the municipalities of Divilacan, Maconacon and Dinapigue.  Seven evacuation centers were opened providing temporary shelter to 174 families or 609 persons while 10 families or 57 persons stayed with their relatives and/or friends’ houses.

All Quick Action Response Teams (QUARTs) in DSWD regional offices affected by Typhoon “Santi” continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with the local social welfare and development offices for provision of appropriate services to affected families. ###
