The Department of Social Welfare and Development, together with concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) continue to assist the victims of ‘Habagat’ which occurred on September 23.

To date, P1,769,143.00 worth of relief assistance were provided to the affected families from the combined resources of DSWD (P1,173,053.00), LGUs (P488,565.00) and NGOs/Other GOs (P107,525.00).

As of 6am today, the “Habagat” has affected 33,976 families or 150,914 persons coming from the 197 barangays, 22 municipalities, 11 cities in the 5 provinces of the National Capital Region, Region III and CALABARZON.

Of the affected families, 6,819 with 29,150 persons are staying in 140 identified evacuation centers in the affected regions.

NCR has 1,044 family-evacuees or 4,735 persons staying in 15 evacuation centers. Region III has 67 evacuation centers with 2,611 or 10,790 persons.

CALABARZON or Region IV-A has 3,164 families or 13,625persons staying in 58 evacuation centers. The DSWD in the affected regions and concerned local government units provided the evacuees with hot meals and food packs.

All  DSWD regional offices in the affected regions continue to coordinate with the LGUs ready to provide augmentation support. ### (DSWD-Social Marketing Service) September 25, 2013.
