The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Field Office (FO) in Region VII, has rushed to the aid of the families affected by the recent landslide caused by heavy rains in Barangay Tinaan, Naga City, Cebu.

Based on the report sent by the regional office, the Department initially provided food and non-food items which consisted of 1,500 family food packs (FFPs), 500 sleeping kits, 500 dining kits, 1,000 pieces of malong, and 500 hygiene kits to the 585 affected families.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) also provided 200 rice packs, 200 packs of assorted canned goods, and 600 bottles of 500ml drinking water.

Currently, a team from the DSWD FO-VII, led by Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre, is on site to assist the local government in the conduct of initial intake on the affected families and augmentation of necessary assistance.

Meanwhile, DSWD Secretary Virginia N. Orogo assured the affected families that the Department will continue to work closely with the Naga City Government to address their needs.

“In behalf of the DSWD family, we express our sincerest condolences to the families affected by the massive landslide that occurred in Cebu. Rest assured that the Department will provide the necessary interventions and assistance to all the survivors and burial assistance for the families who lost their loved ones in this very unfortunate incident,” said Sec.
