The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is providing Family Access Cards (FACs) to families affected by typhoon ‘Pablo’ in Davao Region to ensure fair distribution of relief goods and determine the type of services and interventions to be provided to them.

The information contained in the FACs include family composition, address, kind of assistance received from different agencies, and signatures of the head of the family, social workers, and concerned local government officials.

Aside from allowing for a more effective distribution of relief goods, the access cards will also help determine the kind of assistance to be provided to families, such as psycho-social interventions or counseling, medical, livelihood, and shelter assistance. To date, the DSWD has so far provided relief assistance to 199,991 families in the region.

Meanwhile, a total of 273 cash for work (CFW) beneficiaries are currently working in three shifts at the Relief Operations Center at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Depot in Panacan, Davao City where repacking and hauling of donations and relief goods are being done together with 400 volunteers. Each CFW beneficiary will be paid P218 per day.

“DSWD CFW beneficiaries will also help in the construction of bunkhouses. This is one way to speed up the healing process, enabling survivors to help and capacitate themselves, and not mainly rely on the assistance given to them,” said DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman.
