More assistance for Davao Oriental is assured as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released an additional P115 million as relief augmentation to the local government units (LGUs) hardest hit by typhoon ‘Pablo’ in the province, according to Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman.

A total of P8.93 million worth of food and non-food items was airlifted yesterday (December 6) by the C-130 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force to DSWD Field Office XI (Davao City) from the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City.  These items  consisted of 500 pieces of laminated sacks of plastic sheeting worth P1.32 million; 10,000 pieces of blankets worth P900,000; 10,000 pieces of plastic mats worth P1.53 million; 3,000 pieces of jackets worth P180,000; and family food packs worth P5 million.

Secretary Soliman said that all concerned DSWD regional offices will continue their close coordination with LGUs to assess the extent of impact of the disaster as well as for additional assistance to typhoon victims. ###
