October 1 marks the official start of this year’s National Children’s Month with the theme, “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag ay Palaganapin”.   The kick-off celebration entitled the Festival of Songs on Child’s Rights will be held at the San Andres Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.  Around 6,000 day care, elementary and high school children from nearby schools in the City of Manila will participate in the said activity.

A nationwide simultaneous singing of the songs “Narito ang Munting Puso” and “Bawa’t Bata” serves as one of the highlights of the celebration.  The Council for the Welfare of Children, an attached agency of the DSWD, will spearhead this activity.

Child representatives from the National Anti-Poverty Commission-Children Basic Sector will give heart-warming messages on what the media can do to hear and protect their rights as children and in response to that, representatives from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), National Telecommunications Commission and Advertising Board of the Philippines (Adboard) will give their message of commitment.
