After being hired on-the-spot at the ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last Friday (January 31), 65 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) are now undergoing evaluation for eligibility under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“The 65 beneficiaries were among the 76 4Ps grantees who were hired on-the-spot in the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas job fair. They applied for assistance and are now being assessed if they are qualified to receive the livelihood assistance under the DSWD’s SLP,” Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the DSWD spokesperson, said on Tuesday (February 4).

The SLP is the DSWD’s capability-building program that aims to help the vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalized households and communities in improving their socio-economic conditions by providing them with opportunities to access and acquire livelihood assets.

The program operates in two tracks: Employment Facilitation (EF) Track and Micro-Enterprise Development (MD) Track.

The ‘Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair was organized by the DSWD, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other key agencies, to assist 4Ps beneficiaries in obtaining pre-employment and advisory services.

The job fair, which was exclusive for 4Ps beneficiaries, was participated in by 94 employers invited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The agencies with booths at the job fair include the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine National Police (PNP), Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Office of the President (OP).

Asst Secretary Dumlao said the 4Ps beneficiaries are now being assessed under the Employment Facilitation Track of the program for the provision of Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) amounting to a maximum of Php5,000 each.

“They can use this amount for acquiring pre-employment requirements, such as birth certificate, school diploma, medical or physical examination, police and NBI clearances, and TIN, among others,” the DSWD spokesperson explained.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao said qualified applicants will be notified by the DSWD Field Office – National Capital Region (NCR) and will be informed of the date of the cash assistance payout. (AKDL)
