Social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office (FO)-CALABARZON  have started providing psychosocial services and financial aid to the bereaved families of those who perished during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Kristine in the region.

The FO-CALABARZON has recorded 24 individuals who perished and 23 who went missing at the height of the STS Kristine across the region.

“We are aware of the mental stress caused by the onslaught of STS Kristine, especially to families and individuals who lost their loved ones. Our social workers are ready to provide them with counseling and psychosocial sessions to help them cope with their traumatic experiences. We also condole with the families and offer our prayers to them,” DSWD-CALABARZON Regional Director Barry Chua said on Saturday (October 26).

Social workers from the DSWD’S CALABARZON regional office has so far provided counseling and psychosocial aid to the bereaved families of seven fatalities from Talisay, Batangas.

Aside from the psychosocial services, the FO-4A also extended Php200,000 in financial assistance to the families.

Of those who died, 19 were from Batangas province, three from Laguna and one each from Cavite, Rizal and Quezon.  Some of the casualties drowned, a number of them were hit by falling trees or debris, while others were electrocuted.

The FO continues to coordinate with the families and with the concerned local government units (LGUs) for the provision of other appropriate services that they may need as they go through these difficult times in their lives.

In a related development, the DSWD Field Office 5 – Bicol Region expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the four landslide victims in Caramoran town in Catanduanes province.

The four victims, who were siblings and cousins, lost their lives on October 23 when a landslide buried their home as a result of heavy rainfall from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

In response, the DSWD FO-5, through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, promptly reached out to the grieving families on October 25 by providing financial aid of Php 10,000, along with psychosocial support to help them cope during this difficult time.

This cash assistance aims to provide essential support for the families’ daily needs in the aftermath of the storm’s devastating impact.

Additionally, the DSWD Bicol regional office is coordinating for Funeral Assistance to address the interment needs.

The DSWD remains committed to swiftly responding and providing for those affected by this calamity. #

Sinimulan na ng mga social workers mula sa DSWD Field Office (FO) CALABARZON ang pagbibigay ng psychosocial services gayundin ng tulong pinansyal para sa pamilya ng mga nasawing biktima ng pananalasa ng bagyong Kristine.

Nakapagtala ang FO-CALABARZON ng 24 katao na pawang nasawi habang 23 naman ang nawawala pa.

Bukod sa psychosocial services, nagpaabot din ang FO-4A ng Php200,000 bilang financial assistance sa mga pamilya.

Sa mga nasawi, 19 ang mula sa lalawigan ng Batangas, tatlo mula Laguna at isa sa Cavite, Rizal at Quezon., habang ang ilan naman ay nasawi sa pagkalunod, nabagsakan ng puno o debris at ang iba ay nakuryente.

Patuloy ang koordinasyon ng feld office sa mga pamilya at local government units (LGUs) para sa pagbibigay pa ng iba pang tulong suporta na kailangan upang maibsan ang pinsalang dulot ng kalamidad.

Samantala, taus pusong pakikiramay ang hatid ng DSWD Field Office 5 – Bicol Region sa mga kaanak ng mga nasawi sa pagguho ng lupa sa bayan ng Caramoran sa Catanduanes.

Ang apat na biktima ay magkakapatid at magpipinsan. Sila ay pawang nalibing ng buhay makaraang matabunan ng gumuhong lupa ang kanilang bahay sa kasagsagan ng pananalasa ng bagyong Kristine.

Agad namang nagbigay ng tulong ang DSWD FO-5, sa pamamagitan ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program kung saan nabigyan ang mga naiwang pamilya ng tig Php10,000 bilang financial aid bukod pa sa psychosocial support.
