Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian and European Commission representatives led by Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič exchanged their best practices and approaches in accelerating disaster risk reduction on Tuesday (October 15) during the second day of the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDDR) at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The meeting was among the side activities for the 2024 APMCDDR which aims to raise innovative and practical solutions towards an intersectoral approach to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

Hosted by the Philippine Government in coordination with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), this year’s conference brings together the government, private sector and other local and international groups in order to monitor, review and unify coordination for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in the Asian region.
