Another former child-beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is the latest pride of the anti-poverty program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for topping the September 2024 Social Worker Licensure Examination (SWLE).

“We are delighted to share that another former monitored child of our poverty-alleviation program bagged the top spot of the licensure exam for social workers, out of the more than 7,000 examinees,” DSWD Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, who is also the agency spokesperson, said on Wednesday (September 25).

Sheena Mae Magdato Obispo, from Camalig town in Albay province garnered the highest score of 87 percent in the SWLE administered by the Board for Social Workers in the National Capital Region, and in the cities of Baguio, Cebu, and Davao last September 16 to18.

Sheena’s family is a Set 5 program beneficiary of the 4Ps.

The newly-licensed social worker was among the 4,587 examinees who passed the examination.

Together with her fellow social work graduates from Bicol University (BU) in Daraga, Sheena’s batch also brought the passing rate of their university to 100%, making her alma mater as the top performing school from the recently-concluded SWLE.

Asst. Secretary Dumlao lauded Sheena’s feat, citing her standing at the SWLE as a concrete indication that 4Ps is a valuable tool in effectively investing in human capital.

“We couldn’t be any prouder of Ms. Sheena Obispo’s achievement, just like how we view every success story of our 4Ps beneficiaries. Altogether, their narrative speaks a lot about the support and opportunities we extend to also nurture our beneficiaries’ talent and potentials,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao pointed out.

Sheena is the newest addition to former monitored children who have topped several licensure examinations, closely following Khane Jevie Rose Solante Cervantes from Cateel Davao Oriental, who ranked first at the 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in Elementary Level.

Since the DSWD started monitoring 4Ps children, the agency has hailed more than 36,000 former child-beneficiaries who have successfully passed various examinations with 53 of them clinching the top rank, according to the DSWD spokesperson.

Launched in 2008 and institutionalized by Republic Act No. 11310 in 2019, the 4Ps is the national poverty reduction strategy and human capital investment program that provides conditional cash transfer to poor households for a maximum period of seven years to improve their children’s health, nutrition and education. #

“We are delighted to share that another former monitored child of our poverty-alleviation program bagged the top spot of the licensure exam for social workers, out of the more than 7,000 examinees,” sabi ni DSWD Spokesperson Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao.

“We couldn’t be any prouder of Ms. Sheena Obispo’s achievement, just like how we view every success story of our 4Ps beneficiaries. Altogether, their narrative speaks a lot about the support and opportunities we extend to also nurture our beneficiaries’ talent and potentials,”sabi pa ni Asst. Secretary Dumlao.
