The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) remains keen on further improving the agency’s implementation of social protection programs and services that will benefit more disadvantaged and marginalized Filipinos under the Marcos administration.

Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao, the agency’s spokesperson, said the DSWD is one of the national government agencies that has contributed to the positive ratings in the four performance subjects through its various programs and services  as well as  the agency’s efficient coordination with local government units (LGUs).

“The achievement of a ‘good’ +40 net satisfaction rating of the Marcos administration in the second quarter Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey is evidence that the government’s efforts to improve the lives of the Filipino people remain on the right track,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said.

The survey, which was conducted from June 23 to July 1, also revealed positive ratings in specific performance subjects which were +64 rating or “very good” in terms of helping victims of disaster; +51 or “very good” in helping the poor; +35 or “good” in ensuring food security; and, “+18 or “moderate” in ensuring that no family will ever be hungry.

The DSWD spokesperson cited the enhancements in the prepositioning of goods, through the Buong Bansa Handa (BBH) program, enabled the Department to immediately meet the needs of disaster-stricken families.

The BBH employs two parallel supply chain mechanisms for disaster preparedness and response. The first one features a national and local government-driven supply chain, while the second supply chain forges partnerships with established large and small groceries, supermarkets, manufacturers, and distributors to leverage on their technical expertise and resources to create a private sector-driven supply chain.

In terms of alleviating poverty and hunger, the DSWD is currently scaling up its implementation of the Walang Gutom Program (WGP) to reach 300,000 household-beneficiaries before the year ends.

The WGP provides a holistic approach to addressing involuntary hunger by providing its beneficiaries with access to monetary-based assistance and also invites them to become more productive citizens since they will be required to participate in capacity building.

“We thank the Filipino people for their trust in the Department. Rest assured that the positive ratings will serve as an inspiration for the whole DSWD to contribute to the overall success of the Marcos administration and to provide quality, efficient, and inclusive programs and services under the helm of Secretary Rex Gatchalian,” Asst. Secretary Dumlao said. #

“The achievement of a ‘good’ +40 net satisfaction rating of the Marcos administration in the second quarter Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey is evidence that the government’s efforts to improve the lives of the Filipino people remain on the right track,” sabi ni Asst. Secretary Dumlao.

“We thank the Filipino people for their trust in the Department. Rest assured that the positive ratings will serve as an inspiration for the whole DSWD to contribute to the overall success of the Marcos administration and to provide quality, efficient, and inclusive programs and services under the helm of Secretary Rex Gatchalian,” dagdag pa ni Asst. Secretary Dumlao . #
