To rekindle the passion for public service among government employees, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) conducted a service caravan at Sitio Paoay, Barangay Guiteb, in Ramos, Tarlac last June 15.

The Integrated Salamin-Diwa (SALDIWA) ng Paglilingkod Training Course in the Philippines Batch 53, comprised of 34 CES officers from 13 national government agencies, provided necessary interventions to improve the community’s well-being.

The Department, through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), conducted consultations and collaborated with the members of Sitio Paoay, Barangay Guiteb to identify their needs.

The KALAHI-CIDSS aims to enhance access to basic social services and promote inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation.

The community members were able to identify the need for a portable water system and a daycare center to address health and education challenges.

The KALAHI-CIDSS supported these initiatives by facilitating the construction of a daycare center and the installation of a portable water system.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the day care center, with a total grant of Php 1.335 million was attended by key stakeholders, including Atty. Bernadette Mapue-Joaquin, National Program Manager of KALAHI-CIDSS.

“Nawa ang subproject ay hindi magtapos ngayon lang. Sana magtuloy-tuloy ang coordination ng buong Ramos kasama ang ibang ahensya ng gobyerno,” said Atty. Mapue-Joaquin.

Some 48 households in Sitio Paoay will benefit from the installation of a water facility costing Php 660,000, in partnership with the Ramos Water District. This project will ensure access to clean and safe water, improving the health and well-being of the residents.

“As a model for sustainable development and community empowerment, this partnership highlights KALAHI-CIDSS’s dedication to fostering community-driven development by actively involving local residents in the planning and implementation of projects, ensuring that the community’s most pressing needs are effectively addressed,” Atty. Mapue-Joaquin explained.

The DSWD Field Office-3 (Central Luzon) also provided cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) to qualified families. #
