Members of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Management Committee (ManCom) attended a learning knowledge session on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) last May 21 at the B Hotel in Scout Rallos, Quezon City.

With the theme, “Igniting Digital Transformation: A Journey to Becoming a Data-Driven Organization,” the session aimed to introduce the concept of leveraging data science and AI for business operations; explore potential use cases of data science in various industries that the DSWD can explore; and brainstorm strategies to implement data-driven initiatives for the DSWD.

DSWD ManCom Chairperson and Social Welfare Institutional Development Bureau (SWIBD) Director Justin Caesar Anthony Batocabe said the session is vital to the digital transformation journey of the DSWD since DSAI can be useful in benchmarking, risk management, and customer analytics.

Mr. Josh Bosinos, head of Data Science and Financial Solutions Consulting Aboitiz and Ms. Jackielyn Buenviaje, senior sales manager of Aboitiz Data Innovation, served as the resource speakers in the activity. Among the topics discussed in the session were the key components on DSAI, successful cases on digital transformation, and how the concepts can be applied in the DSWD setting. #
