Some 87,157 family food packs have been distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Provincial Government of Bohol to families affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the province, according to Secretary Dinky Soliman during a press conference yesterday.

Secretary Soliman was in the province yesterday to lead in the distribution of relief packs in isolated areas in the province. She added that relief distribution in Bohol is now on its second cycle with affected families from quake-hit municipalities receiving initial aid from concerned local government units.

Secretary Soliman also said that Habitat for Humanity’s Mobile Emergency Response vehicle will be deployed in Bohol to help in disaster relief efforts.

“Habitat for Humanity will build nine (9) tents to serve as temporary hospital facility in municipalities where hospitals were partially damaged,” Secretary Soliman said.

A DSWD Team from Central Office has already conducted rapid assessment of the extent of damage in 27 municipalities affected by the earthquake.

To date, Bohol maintains 64 evacuation centers with 21,250 families or 104,953 persons. A total of 51,614 families or 236,509 persons stay in open spaces or in their friends’ and relatives’ houses.
