Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman today said that various forms of relief assistance amounting to P7,230,430.75 have been extended by the DSWD, concerned local government units, and non-government organizations to the affected families of typhoon ‘Gener.’

DSWD Regional Offices reported that the total number of affected families now registered at 110,633 composed of 519,651 persons from 771 barangays, 21 cities, 118 municipalities, and 29 provinces in ten regions (I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, X, CARAGA and NCR) in the country.

As of August 3, 6am, 85 evacuation centers in the affected regions continue to provide temporary shelter to 3,980 families or 16,692 individuals. Moreover, 44,078 families or 211,214 persons who opted to stay in their relatives’ houses are also provided with relief goods.

In Cordillera Administration Region (CAR), particularly in Benguet and Baguio City, seven evacuation centers remain open which provide shelter to 155 families composed of 674 persons.

Secretary Soliman said that 400 family packs worth P100,000 will be immediately sent today by the DSWD-CAR to affected residents in the province of Abra.

“Our DSWD Regional Offices continue their close monitoring of affected areas and coordination with concerned LGUs so that relief assistance may be brought to them immediately, especially that heavy rains continue to batter the country,” Secretary Soliman said. ###
